Key areas of responsibility:
- Develop ideas for product development, whether enhancements to existing products, brand extensions or brand new subscription product. To create and communicate a strategic road map for all products, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and continue to evolve in line with market changes and internal strategic developments
- To work with business development colleagues, to identify new product opportunities based on publishing capabilities and clearly articulated market needs; where appropriate, create new business cases.
- Responsible for all marketing-related functions.
- Lead and agree the marketing strategy through market, customer and competitor analysis.
- Conceive and implement budget spend of marketing services to maximise ROI in agreement with the businesses.
- Responsible for the marketing profitability and cash/ revenue.
- Position the products clearly and effectively in the minds of the target audience and to engage with that audience in order to generate subscription revenue.
- Define and execute effective marketing messages via all appropriate channels (including engaging with appropriate external partners) with an emphasis on online, social, email, content marketing and telesales.
- Work with telesales to improve processes for subscription sales management through all online and offline channels.
- Use customer analytics (e.g. customer behaviour, campaign results) to develop go-to market activities.
Scope
- Lead the product and marketing management of new distribution methods and online products, including data feeds, iPad/ tablet, mobile, and third parties.
- Develop effective brand recognition strategies especially for newer products such as Steel First
- Work closely with the Divisional Director, Publishers and editorial team to ensure that the online services are fully optimised for the target segments. This would entail getting feedback from the sales teams, customers and monitoring the competition. Regular intelligence on these matters would be fed back to the management and included in reports
- Plan and oversee all on-line marketing campaigns including social media.
- Direct investment in customer and market research including ongoing Customer Satisfaction Indexes, such as Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Work with the telesales team to ensure all activity is co-ordinated with marketing including new sales, retention of existing customers and key accounts.
- Work closely with editorial to encourage lead generation and generate content targeted to priority customer segments.
- Develop systems and processes to maximise first time & subsequent renewal rates.
